Greninja Battle Feature WCT Figure

Let’s hop into the next Pokémon Battle Feature figure. This time it’s Greninja, the 3rd in @wickedcooltoys S3 wave. Greninja is yet another difficult figure to create because of its odd proportions. WCT nails this one by giving us a figure in Greninja’s iconic crouched stance. The pose in any angle looks good. The construction of the figure does suffer as he is plagued by seam lines. On his tongue, these lines blend in with his indentations designed to give the effect of the tongue wrapped around his neck. At first glance it’s hard to tell them apart and makes all the lines look like seam lines. On his knees, they are entirely too obvious and detract a lot due to three pieces sandwiched together to form his thighs. The paint on this guy returns to the rough application I recall from the S1 days. No matter where you look, there are glaring defects with the exception of his eyes and water shuriken accessory. Molded from transparent plastic, his shuriken fits under his left hand and can be removed. This figure’s battle feature is its ability to do a back flip. You can activate a timed mechanism in his inner workings by pushing up on his bottom half toward his leaning arm. You must then quickly balance him on a level surface and wait till he either falls over and kicks, or successfully does the back flip. If you’re lucky, you can admire him after he does his backflip and actually lands it. That occurrence doesn’t happen often and when it does, he changes his facing direction mid air doing a quarter of a turn as he flips. There are no points of articulation on this figure. For my scale warriors, this fella stands at just 3” from bottom to points of ears. Over all, this figure looks great in its pose but visually suffers from bad paint application and unsightly seam lines. As a kids toy, he could probably be fun for a short while with too much frustration with getting its battle feature to work. He is best suited as a display figurine. I give this fella 1 out of 5 stars, hard pass!
