The Raid 1 + 2 (Blu-ray)

In the mood for something bone crushing? Neck snapping? Maybe even face stomping, spleen shattering, ball bursting, joint popping, all around stabby, slicy good fun? Well look no further than this LEGENDARY double feature starring the untouchable Iko Uwaise, and helmed by the consistently excellent Gareth Edwards (if you dig these films, and period horror, be sure to check out the Netflix exclusive The Apostle!). I’ll never forget first seeing The Raid at one of its literal 5 showtimes in my area because another film I wanted to see was sold out. I had NO idea what the film was, just that it was a new martial arts film. I left the theater totally dumbfounded at the sheer insanity of the first entry. Of course, naturally I was chomping at the bit for a sequel, and the results most certainly delivered! I’m really digging this new wave of hyper kinetic, hyper violent martial arts films, so come on Edwards, let’s bang out a capper to this superb series and make it a trilogy. How about all of you?
