Hey all!!! So I was browsing the interwebs in the Google machine, and I stumbled across the existence of this absolute gem, the late 90’s true crime thriller, Summer of Sam. I had no idea that Kino had even announced this release much less put it out already, but seeing it immediately blasted open a dusty corner of my suppressed consciousness that had lain dormant for decades. I remember seeing this in the theater and being genuinely disturbed, as well as really enjoying it through and through. I recall it having a kind of David Fincher feel, but have zero idea of that would still hold water now. It’s been literally 20 years since I’ve seen this one, but that first watch was enough to leave an impression. As a die hard true crime fanatic, I can’t wait to see what my current mind thinks of this one. How about all of you? Any fans of Summer of Sam? Any fellow true crime buffs? Let’s chat!
