Color Out Of Space (Blu-ray)

Hello everyone! I hope your week is going well! I just thought I’d take a quick moment to showcase the small, but iconic body of work of the one and only Richard Stanley. Having come out of the gate swinging with the cult classic post apocalyptic techno thriller Hardware, and solidifying his singularly sparse, esoteric, lonely cinematic visions with the underrated and under seen Dust Devil, one would think that a one two punch debut such as that would lead to a fruitful and long career behind the camera. It turns out that fate would put the director on a far different path. After being let go from the production of The Island of Dr. Moreau due to friction caused by his overall disdain for the studio system and constant conflict with then major stars Val Kilmer and Marlon Brando, Stanley retreated into the world of short films and documentaries for decades. To say I was shocked and beyond excited when it was announced he was returning to feature films, not to say anything of it being a Nicolas Cage fronted Lovecraftian horror film... well you get the point. Understatement of the century. So, without further adieu, I am off to start my weekend and break this nearly 30 year dry spell of Richard Stanley awesomeness! How about all of you? Have you seen Color Out of Space? Are you excited to see this long dormant cult filmmaker return? Let’s chat below!
