Hardware (Blu-ray)

“YOU CAN’T STOP PROGRESS.” Hey all, I hope everyone is having a solid Wednesday. Currently under an immense amount of stress due to a wide variety of reasons. Naturally, the best way to unwind after a long day/week is with a good movie, and I’m feeling a little bit apocalyptic at the moment. Given that I’m only a few weeks away from the home video release of cult director Richard Stanley’s long awaited return to feature films, Color Out of Space, I thought I’d do a quick marathon of his entire filmography. Hardware is one of those films that you really either appreciate or don’t. It’s low budget is obvious at most points, and the derivative story, “borrowing” elements from many previous sci-fi classics, is far from original. That said, the film makes up for it all with incredible ambition, charm, and personality. It’s always a blast to revisit, and this will be the first time I’ve watched it in years, last time on a mediocre DVD release. It should be a blast to see how this one transfers to shiny HD 😎🤘😁 Stay tuned for Dust Devil and The Otherworld in the coming weeks, and maybe even keep an eye out for The Island of Doctor Moreau 🤘 Have you seen the Nicolas Cage fronted Color Out of Space? I’ve heard that Stanley intends on expanding his Lovecraft universe with sequels 😍 Could we be entering a new renaissance of a late career revival Richard Stanley madness? Yes please!
