Anyone remember a little old tale of a boy named Arthur? I’ve always enjoyed this particular fable, and though it’s been adapted countless times, in many forms, I always find a lot to love in the varying visions that have brought it to life. That said, I don’t think any one film adaptation has quite nailed the quintessential take on Arthur. Something, be it production values, performance, central narrative, or any number of facets, is always missing. These two are probably my favorite of the bunch, with Excalibur being a terrifically flawed, incredibly nostalgic, undeniably unique film experience, and King Arthur a solid, action packed interpretation of the character cut and pasted into a modern sword and sandal epic. Both are great fun, with a lot to love in very different ways. I’m also partial to the entire Merlin arc of Stargate SG-1... because he was an alien, and that’s always a good thing 😎😂🤘 Other adaptations for you to enjoy are the recent The Kid Who Would Be King, a fantastic family adventure film from top to bottom, and Disney’s must watch animated classic, The Sword In the Stone. So what about you? Any fans of Arthur and his knights? What’s your favorite film adaptation? What would you like to see in a perfect vision for the legend?
