Robert Redford is a living, breathing, somehow still working absolute screen legend, and there’s quite literally nothing left for him to prove. That doesn’t mean he isn’t going to try! From a solo survivor on a sinking ship, a lead role in one of the best MCU films to date, a gentleman bank robber, and even a scientist who proved the existence of the after life, he is hardly going quietly into that gentle night. This was one of my favorite films of his recent flurry of output, and it stands as an atmospheric, soulful survival experience that few actors could have pulled off. There is a reason he has stood tall for a sixty year career, and All Is Lost distills this lifetime of experience into its base essence, and oh what a beautiful thing it is!
