About Philips

Philips co-invented the compact disc, and in 1991 it launched the CD-i to bring interactive discs — encyclopaedias, films, games — to the living room. It was ahead of its time and out of step with the console market.

Its games library is small but notorious: the Zelda titles and Hotel Mario that Nintendo licensed to Philips are now some of the most sought-after and expensive discs in retro collecting.
