BB-8 started as a rough sketch drawn by J.J. Abrams on a napkin one evening. A simple design consisting of a little more than a ball with a dome on top, but Abrams' new idea for a droid was quickly brought to life by special effects wizard Neal Scanlan and became both a technological marvel and one of the most exciting and innovative practical effects in film history. BB-8 is a BB Unit Astromech droid, a friend and companion to pilot Poe Dameron. In Star Wars: The Force Awakens we see him with Poe, Rey, and Finn. He quickly became a fan favorite character and SideShow has made this version in their flagship Premium Format™ line. Sideshow has captured all the nuances of BB-8's genius design, from the surprisingly soulful and character-filled "eyes"/photoreceptors to the colored, scratched, and dirty panels of his spherical body, every tiny detail helping to give this little Astromech life and soul. Both BB-8's head and torso have integrated LED lights, providing another layer of film-accurate detail as well as added visual charm to this adorable BB-8. BB-8's desert-themed base is designed so BB-8 sits with the Rey Premium Format ™ figure. Whether you choose to display him alone or as a companion with Rey, BB-8 will be one of the most treasured jewels in your Star Wars collection! Size: 23 x 13 x 16 cm
