Let’s have a look at @wickedcooltoys 4.5” Mewtwo Battle Feature figure. He is the second in their Pokémon Series 3 collection. Mewtwo has historically been a difficult character to sculpt due to his odd proportions but WCT managed to do a good job, capturing Mewtwo pretty well. He does have some weird lines that form his tail. From certain angles it looks strange and inorganic, rather than smooth and flowing. Paint wise, there’s not much here other than his purple patch along his pelvis which is a bit fuzzy along the edges, a common issue with WCT’s battle feature figures. His eyes however, are nice and crisp. Most articulation is thrown out the window and only his tail is afforded a pivoting point that allows you to rotate it. So what’s his battle feature? This figure has a noticeable split along his waist. Within it is a spring loaded mechanism that causes his torso to pivot violently, causing Mewtwo to throw its projectile a short distance. His projectile is very nice. It’s cast in a soft transparent vinyl with a nice gradient finish. There’s a lot of care put into the sculpt of the projectile. It even has indentions within it that allow Mewtwo’s fingers to hold it firmly. This is a good upgrade from Series 1’s Ash and Pikachu twist launcher where no such feature is present. This feature also works to balance Mewtwo as his heavy tail causes him to fall back if you try to stand him without his projectile, although I did have trouble standing him with it. A combination of unleveled (warped) feet and trying to lean him in the right direction often sent him falling moments after balancing him. I think he really needed to have a stand to help him display with or without projectile. Overall, this figure has a relatively good sculpt and paint application with a nice improvement on his battle feature. Lack of articulation and stand relegates him to an active play toy that is nearly impossible to display. I give it 3 out of 5 stars, it’s okay, you may or may not be crazy about it!
