After the first mimic, the whole group changes. In the past, a treasure chest was just good news. Now it’s a threat. DM says: “You see an old chest in the corner.” And immediately the whole party goes on high alert. The Rogue will make a Perception check. The Wizard will cast magic. The Fighter will strike at it with something long from a distance. And the player who was bitten by a mimic last is already several steps behind as they move away. It’s one of those experiences that sticks with you. Suddenly it’s no longer “cool, loot” but more “okay, how is this chest going to try and eat us?” Mimic 2 T-shirt is for the role-player who has learned that a chest in a dungeon is never just a chest. Not when the DM describes it a bit too calmly. It’s not called paranoia. It’s called experience. Nerdshop tip: Throw a stone at the suspicious treasure chest first. If it growls, it’s a mimic.
