After the first mimic, the whole group changes. In the past, a treasure chest was just good news. Now it’s a threat. DM says: “You see an old chest in the corner.” And immediately the whole party goes on alert. Rogue will make a Perception check. Wizard will use magic. The Fighter will strike at it from long distance with something. And the player who was most recently bitten by a mimic is already a few steps backing away. It’s one of those experiences that sticks with you. Suddenly it isn’t “cool, loot” anymore but more like “okay, how is this chest going to try to eat us?” Mimic 2 T-shirt is for the role-player who has learned that a chest in a dungeon is never just a chest. Not when the DM describes it a little too calmly. It isn’t paranoia. It’s experience. Nerdshop tip: Throw a stone at the suspicious treasure chest first. If it growls, it’s a mimic.
