4” Ash and Pikachu set WCT Figures

Let’s look at the @wickedcooltoys 4” Ash and Pikachu set. Ash is their third Battle Feature figure. He’s got a spring loaded waist that allows you to twist him back and spring back allowing him to launch Pikachu into battle. He’s got a transparent cup that wraps around his forearm that is supposed to make launching Pikachu easier. The thing is, it doesn’t really help because it’s neither big enough nor cupped enough to firmly hold Pikachu. The resulting flings give Pikachu very little air and make for a very weak launch. It takes too much effort to hold Pikachu with one hand and try to twist Ash with the other to fling him. It’s not very fun to do it so WCT gives you the option of removing the plastic cup from Ash’s forearm. That’s good foresight as you may very certainly want to remove it. The paint application is better than the application on the battle figures though still pretty rough and his stare doesn’t appear as empty as it did in the promotional shots. Other than his twist action, there is no articulation on Ash and his launching pose makes it difficult for him to stand. You may have to come up with your own solutions if you want him to remain standing for display purposes which is probably what it’s best suited for. I give this figure 3 out of 5 stars, it’s okay, you may or may not be crazy about it!
