I 'Dune - the desert planet' the young Prince Paul Atreides travels with his father, Duke Leto Atreides, to the desert planet Dune, where the valuable substance melange, which is used for space travel among other things, is produced. The evil emperor Shaddam IV, however, hires a group of brutal barbarians, the Harkonnens, to kill Leto and thus render Paul homeless – albeit with an army of local soldiers at his back. Thus begins the space revolution in Lynch's baroque sci-fi epic, based on Frank Herbert's 1965 bestseller. Experience, among other things, retro effects of old-school, gigantic sandworms, and a skimpy Sting – all wrapped in an intense 1980s soundtrack by Toto and Brian Eno.
