Dune - The Desert Planet I 'Dune - ørkenplaneten' reisen the young Prince Paul Atreides together with his father, Duke Leto Atreides, to the desert-planet Dune, where the valuable substance melange, used among other things for space travel, is produced. The evil emperor Shaddam IV, however, enlists a group of brutal barbarians, The Harkonnens, to kill Leto and thereby make Paul an orphan – though with an army of local soldiers at his back. Thus begins the space revolution in Lynch's baroque sci-fi epic, based on Frank Herbert's 1965 bestseller. Experience, among other things, retro effects the old-school way, gigantic sandworms and a skimpy Sting – all wrapped in a heavy 80s soundtrack by Toto and Brian Eno. David Lynch withdrew from the film after the premiere in 1984 due to lack of final-cut, and it still stands as Lynch's least personal film.
