Wonder Boy (Game Gear - Sega - 1990 - PAL)

A basic platformer that spawned the Wonder Boy series... and the Adventure Island serie as well. The Wonder Boy games family tree is an odd one for sure. With this first installment, it is as straightforward as it gets. The graphics are colorful and cute, the music is enjoyable enough but the level design is not where the game shines. I don’t really like the health bar mechanic in this game: you have to get every health recovery items as your life bar is constantly draining. A nice game though.
