Let’s have a look at the Wicked Cool Toys 12” Solgaleo figure. What’s nice about this line of Pokémon figures is that they come in open packaging and you’re able to examine them and get a feel for them at the retailer! With Solgaleo, his sculpt just begs for attention because it is so well done. This guy is huge and looks stunning in this large scale. One thing I especially like about it is his sturdiness. There are no hollow parts in his construction and he feels well put together. He does however have a few flaws on his whiskers which appear to be seams or plastic entry points that were not touched up in the manufacturing process. I vividly recall seeing these flaws in WCT’s unveiling at Toy Fair New York a year ago. I thought these issues would be resolved before making it to retail but that was not the case. His paint application is well done. WCT has hit on the eye details as well as the gradating paint effects with good precision. He has several articulating points. Most notably his hips and shoulders which allow his legs to rotate. He also needlessly has a rotation point at the base of his tail. Most interesting is the amount of articulation given to his neck which can allow him some degree of head movement as well as lockable positions that allow his head to look upward or downward. I do think he could have had articulation points at his knees and maybe even his heels. The minimal articulation points don’t really allow you to do much with it, so why bother? We want to create movement or pose it running. Overall this figure features an amazing sculpt with a solid paint job, but does have a few flaws and lackluster posable options. I give it 4 out of 5 stars, get it, you’ll be happy with it!
