Made even before Studio Ghibli was founded, this is a Hayao Miyazaki directed animation about a princess in a post-apocalyptic world full of giant mutant insects, as she tries to find a way for humans and the toxic jungle to co-exist. It’s the first film Miyazaki and Joe Hisaishi (composer) collaborated on. Hideaki Anno (Neon Genesis Evangelion) contributed to the animation. And Hironobu Sakaguchi says Nausicaa was an influence on the Final Fantasy series, in particular the Chocobos.
