- This item is used - Spanish edition - English language Description MediEvil (PlayStation 1) MediEvil is an action-adventure game from 1998 developed and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for PlayStation. The game takes place in the medieval kingdom of Gallowmere and follows the charming, but unlucky hero Sir Daniel Fortesque, who tries to stop the evil Zarok's invasion and at the same time earn hero status. The game was originally developed from 1995 at Millennium Interactive under the working title Dead Man Dan. Visuals are strongly inspired by Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, which gives the game a dark and humorous Halloween mood. The game was originally planned as an arcade-inspired shooter for Windows and Sega Saturn, but after Sony's acquisition of the developer it became a PlayStation title. MediEvil was praised for its unique visual style and atmospheric world, but also criticized for some camera and control challenges. The game was released in Europe and North America in 1998 and in Japan in 1999, and was later re-released on PlayStation Network in 2007. The game received a sequel, MediEvil 2, in 2000, and has been re-released and remade for PSP in 2005 ( MediEvil: Resurrection ) and PlayStation 4 in 2019.
