Gotta love the feeling of a relaxing Sunday morning. Just working on my third cup of coffee ☕️ and half paying attention to the Saints/Viking playoff game. I was chewing on what I should watch film wise next, as I need a little something scary, but was also feeling like a sci-fi flick. I eventually decided on the first Cloverfield, as it’s been a good while since I’ve watched it. I thought while I was at it, I’d show off the entire trilogy. Unlike most, I really, REALLY liked The Cloverfield Paradox. Maybe it’s my unabashed love of space horror, and high tolerance for retreaded ideas, but I loved it, and have actually watched it more than the other two. 10 Cloverfield Lane was an awesome surprise sequel, and while of course it didn’t directly connect to the original, that didn’t bother me. I actually think what Abrams and co are doing with this series is really interesting. Each film has been a different genre, style, and scale, and yet I think they all fit very well into the same universe, meaning it really shouldn’t be a requirement that all sequels have to amount to “the same, but more” or “ the same, but different.” Anyway, on to the original!
