Ahhhh... good morning everyone and a happy Sunday to you all! As I was browsing the collection for this mornings movie viewing, I decided to give into the itch to once again to watch The Mist for the 729287372nd time, as it’s easily one of my favorite horror films. It also inspired me to once again show off these three all time great films, a Stephen King triple feature to rule them all! Frank Darabont has achieved what few (any?) filmmakers ever have: adapting not just one phenomenal Stephen King adaptation, but three, all of which place in my top 25 films of all time, no problem. Of course we all know King from his classic horror stories, many of them adapted into the genre’s most enduring works. The Mist probably won’t go down as one of those for everyone, but it’s definitely one of my favorites. I’m particularly stoked to see the current revival in interest in his stories, with all of the new adaptations and of course TV shows like Castle Rock that use the mythology of his universe so effectively. I never, ever want to see The Green Mile or Shawshank remade, as they truly are perfect and I am happy to see them appreciated for the masterpieces they are to this day. I couldn’t choose a favorite of the three. How about all of you? Any other fans? What’s your favorite Stephen King film? Let’s talk!
