Taking a break from my current rampage through the unwatched backlog, it’s time for a little detour. So about a year ago I watched the notoriously panned Hellboy remake for the first time, and despite my legendary low standards for pretty much anything and everything comic book/sci-fi/horror/fantasy related, I thought it was a complete and total dumpster fire. I mean, that movie was wretchedly terrible from top to bottom, inside and out as far as I’m concerned 😅🤣😂 That said, I’m a glutton for punishment, and sometimes, the just the right context, revisiting these films with the proper expectations can drastically change my viewing experience. I’m pretty sure that Hellboy 2019 will never be anything approaching a cult film, but maybe this second watch will change my feelings, as has been known to happen many times before. Of course, we all know the first two Hellboy flicks (yes, including The Golden Army!) are classics, so I won’t bother digging into those. How about all of you? Are you a Hellboy fan?
