Well now!!! Who would have thought that a comic book villain based origin film would ever be nominated for 11 academy awards, which as far as I can tell, appears to be more than any other film this year. Naturally, I had to finally get around to posting this recent pickup, as well as my quick thoughts on the film. From the moment Joaquin Phoenix was cast as Joker, I knew we were in for something special. Like many, I was a bit nervous about Todd Phillips taking the directorial reigns given his resume, although I was still interested to see how things played out. I was beyond stoked and a bit surprised I that ended up loving it, as it really was an absolute masterpiece. The direction, classic cinematic influences, obviously Phoenix’s show stopping performance... this movie has finally, permanently shut the naysayers up. Comic movies don’t suck. Sucky movies suck 😂 Obviously, due to the crazy success of the film, we will be seeing more, and I can’t wait for what comes next. It will be great to see the awards it ends up bringing home as well this season! What about all of you? How did you like Joker?
