Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (Blu-ray)

Okay... it’s been long enough, and I’ve had more than enough time to digest, mull over, and decide on my final feelings for this flick... I really just couldn’t get into this one. Through and through. While I’ve never been a Tarantino devotee like many, I’ve enjoyed a good chunk of his output, some of which are unarguable classics. That said, both The Hateful Eight and now Once Upon A Time In Hollywood have seen him, in my eyes, at both his most excessive and lacking. I get why a lot of people dig it. The period setting, the presence of iconic figures from our recent past, a celebration of a long gone era... it all rang so hollow to me. Lots of praise given to Brad Pitt for what I found to be a very standard turn for the legendary actor. There was so much going on and yet I couldn’t for the life of me summon the slightest interest in the proceedings. It was all so bloated, yet lacking any real substance. Maybe it was intended to be a glittery celebration of the films namesake, but I was waiting for a reason to caste, and it never came. Everything felt exactly like I expected it to: a Tarantino experience through and through. Maybe I’m just over it? Anyway, a swing and a miss for me, I’ll marinate on it for a year and try again to see if anything lands differently How about all of you? What did you think of the maestro’s newest feature?
