Okay, next up on today’s theme of similar movie pairings, we’ve got a couple of no frills, all action while house themed gems in the form of Antoine Fuqua’s Olympus Has Fallen, and Roland Emmerich’s White House Down. While both of these are top to bottom, across the board awesome, I’d have to go with Olympus Has Fallen as the clear winner. I chock that up primarily to the direction of Fuqua and Gerard “somehow elevates flaming dumpster fires to more than watchable guilty pleasures” Butler and their chemistry. The action scenes are more effectively stages, the thrills a bit more edgy, and the characters just a bit more likable. White House Down is totally serviceable and a lot of fun, but overall has the feeling of a Roland Emmerich well past his prime. So what do you all think? Which of these is the better White House action films? That still sounds weird. Shout out to @stadiumstudios for the inspiration
