Hey all! It’s officially the beginning of my weekend, and I’ve decided to start it off with a couple of underrated haunting flicks. Neither The Haunting in Connecticut or its oddly titled sequel Ghosts of Georgia were well received by any strict definition of the concept, I’ve always really, really enjoyed them. The first was a standard, but to me, super effective supernatural horror film. It was creepy, atmospheric, decently performed, and overall, just a well paced, entertaining haunted house film. The sequel in the other hand, is the true underrated gem of the pair. Maybe it’s because of the eternally burning torch I will forever carry for my future wife Katee Sackhoff, but I swear anything she is in is immediately awesome. This one is another super solid haunted house/demonic presence style film, except a bit more action packed, a little more stylized, and overall a bit more mature. The film feels more confident in itself, and I actually enjoyed it much more than the first. This is one I throw in fairly regularly when I want to unwind and be spooked. Are these films masterpieces? No, but most aren’t. They’re entertaining as heck to me, and I just read there was another sequel called The Amityville Murders: A Haunting On Long Island, so I guess I’ll be tracking that one down. Any other fans of these Haunting films? What are some of your favorite films nobody else enjoys?
