Hey all!! It’s time for another Marvel double feature, mixing the old with the new for something fresh. I have always found that while far from flawless, Ang Lee’s adaptation is a surprisingly decent and quite ahead of its time, all around awesome film featuring everyone’s favorite irradiated rage monster, The Incredible Hulk. This got me to thinking about the state of the Hulk in 2020 as things currently stand. I’ll just go ahead and say that as of this moment, I feel like the Marvel brain trust has seriously mishandled, even outright failed The Incredible Hulk. There’s really no mincing words on it. After coming out swinging with what I consider to be the most ridiculously underrated entry in the entire MCU, and really all the way up to the release of Thor: Ragnarok, he was one of my favorite Avengers. Then they decided to make him have confidence issues. Then turned him into a silly caricature of a soft, nerdy muscle dude bro. The way Ruffallo seemed to completely abandon his entire approach to Banner, morphing him jarringly into a ticky, awkward dork, and then running with it just perplexes me. Through sticky legal issues, we haven’t been able to see a solo Hulk film since the second entry in the MCU, which seems a bit ridiculous given Disney’s power at the moment. I can’t wrap my head around the idea that they can’t afford or are unable to secure the rights to this character outright. I’ll be even more blunt: I HATE where the Hulk is post Endgame, and I hope we see more, with a complete course correction. Anyway, what are your thoughts?
