“DEAD OR ALIVE, YOU’RE COMING WITH ME!” Hello all! So I’ve got a day of errands ahead, and when those are done, a whole lot of sitting around planned. I recently pinched a nerve in my neck and shoulder, so I’ve got more excuses than ever to flop around and watch some of my favorite comfort films for hours on end. One of my all time favorites in that category has to be Robocop. There are few films more nostalgic and few characters more iconic to me, so much so that in addition to loving the the darker, nastier Robocop 2 nearly as much as the original, I also am a huge fan of the other sequels as well. Although vastly inferior and thoroughly toothless, I still enjoy Robocop 3 as the silly Saturday morning cartoon, alternate universe black sheep of the series. I actually think it’s quite a blast 😂 Lastly, no matter it’s reception, I’ll always be a staunch defender of the tragically dumbed down, but still somehow thoroughly engrossing 2014 remake. I loved Joel Kinnaman’s take as Murphy, and found the entire film to be a sleek, effectively modernized, then surprisingly current take on a classic material. I loved the new look, the action was epic, and it was great to see Ed-209 make an appearance. I just wish it was an R rated gorefest like the original. They really made a bad call in that department. I’d love to see a meaner sequel, but of course that ship has long sailed. How about all of you? Any fans of the Robocop series? Would you like to see a Peter Weller fronted continuation one day?
