Halloween 5 (Blu-ray)

“MICHAEL LIVES... AND THIS TIME, THEY’RE READY!” Oooooh boy 😅😁😅 No matter how popular a character or franchise is, eventually there will be burnout. I think that by the time The Revenge of Michael Myers was released, we were officially beginning to see the law of diminishing returns in full effect. Let me preface by saying that all Halloween films are fun and enjoyable in their own right. That said, I don’t think I’ve really ever seen someone try to argue that this is a “good” film. It’s really not. But it is an enjoyable one!Cheesy, convoluted, filled with unnecessary lore, the eye rolling psychic Myers familial connection, Loomis continuing his descent in to over the top camp silliness, and a series of acceptable but unremarkable deaths... Pretty much nothing about this film works in the way the best of the Halloween entries do, but at the end of the day, it’s a tail end of the eighties franchise slasher, and for those with a high tolerance for cliche and convoluted horror mythos, there are much worse to be seen out there.
