Sooooo... Time to revisit this 2019 hit, that for me kind of landed with a bit of a thud. It was totally, absolutely, positively fine. Nothing wrong with it at all. It was a solid, stylish, murderous, splattery, gory, darkly funny slice of horror thriller goodness. The main issue I have with it, is that I’ve literally seen ALL of this before. And to be honest, done much better. Ready Or Not feels like a patchwork quilt of films like Monster Party, You’re Next, and The Invitation. All excellent in their own right, and clear inspirations for the proceedings here. Make no mistake about it, this was definitely a fun watch, but I frequently couldn’t quite shake the feeling of extreme deja vu, like I had seen everything before in some capacity or another. To be honest, I really couldn’t have cared any less about a final girl than I did about... whatever her name was. Seriously. Just kind of bland and there. I rarely felt a sense of anxiety for her situation. I always hesitate to rate things with an arbitrary number, but if I had to 1-10 it, I’d give it a solid 6.5-7. Solid kills, solid performances, stylish... this was a decent little once or twice watch, worth a rental or a cheap purchase. I must admit I seem to be in the minority about my lack of over the top enthusiasm for this title. What did you all think of this one?
