Message from Space (Blu-ray)

“WHERE FANTASIES ARE REAL AND REALITY IS FANTASTIC!” Ahhh, I don’t think there are many things that can compete with the wonderful feeling of a days work done, house chores under control, light lunch in the belly, and a classic sci-fi film on the tube. Submitted for your approval, today we have this long sought after Scream Factory release of the absolutely god awful/utterly amazing inbred cousin of Star Wars, the Japanese space opera epic, Message From Space. For anyone who has had the pleasure of experiencing this beautiful disaster, you either fell in love with it’s cheap, totally unintentional eccentricities, or you see it for the dumpster fire many claim it to be. Myself, I’m easy to please, and absolutely adore the film. The casting is bizarre, and the chemistry completely nonexistent. It’s as if everyone received their script for the first time on shooting day, and were told they were in a sports drama. The amount of unsuccessful attempts to ape Star Wars would make a phenomenal drinking game. I know it must seem like all of the things I’m saying are negative... and that’s kind of true... but I can’t stress enough just how much fun everything is. It’s just so out there, so over the top, and so completely bonkers, that it makes the entire experience immensely entertaining. After literally a year of looking I was finally able to snatch this beauty up for a handful of trades and a few slipcovers 😎🤘😎Anyone else a fan? @shoutfactory

  • segaThe Mega Drive Is the Smartest Way to Start a Sega CollectionPick up a PAL copy of Streets of Rage 2 and the case still snaps shut the way it did in 1992. That one detail — Sega shipping games in hard plastic clamshells while Nintendo was still using cardboard — is half the argument for the Mega Drive as your first serious Sega collection. The other half: this was Europe's 16-bit machine, and today's PAL supply reflects it. Sega won Europe with the Mega Drive in a way it never managed in Japan. For a collector, that dominance means abundance: consoles, l
