1965 James Bond - Bubble Gum - Philadelphia Chewing Gum Corporation

In 1965, the Philadelphia Chewing Gum Corporation produced a 66-card set depicting black & white stills from the first three James Bond movies. Dr. No, From Russia With Love and Goldfinger. These sold at the time for 5¢ a pack. The set is nothing fancy. The cards feature black and white photos and a small white border, and the cut wasn’t all that great. Often they would be cut on angles. The cards had text printed on the back side of the card in black and red, describing the picture in the front. These were released in the U.S & Australia. The Australian set was printed and distributed by a popular local football card manufacturer "Scanlens". The difference between the two manufacturers is that the U.S.A. cards were printed on a greyish paper stock, and the Australian cards were printed on a snow white paper stock. I managed to get my hands on a set decades ago by trading them for a boxed rare 1977 Palitoy’s Death Star construction kit. As much as I love my James Bond collection, I just looked up the value of the Death Star construction kit and one on ebay & is selling for over $1,600. Oh well, you win some you lose some. The Death Star only cost me $2 to buy, so guess I shouldn’t complain.
