Upper Deck arrived in 1989 with holograms, tamper-proof packaging and a price nobody had dared charge before, and effectively ended the era of cards you found in a bubblegum packet. The 1989 Griffey rookie is the card most people picture when they picture the company.

The basketball licence and the early nineties insert sets are what most of the shelf here is made of. Centring and corners decide the grade, and the grade decides most of the price.
