Bob-Omb ThinkGeek Toy Figure

Let’s have a close look at ThinkGeek’s newest Nintendo toy, the Lights and Sound Bob-Omb! Like all of ThinkGeek’s Nintendo toys, this fella came as a surprise, but does this toy explode with awesomeness or will it fizzle into distant memory? Let’s find out. It’s hard to miss this figure at GameStop in its large attention-grabbing package. I knew I needed to get it but at $14.99 I was a bit reluctant but thought what the heck! My figure was loose in the haphazardly taped packaging. I opened it and taped it properly to show you what it should look like in box. Out of the box the figure has a great sculpt with his eyes protruding slightly and the nice spiraling of his fuse. Proportions are there as well, until you look at his back side where his winding key is ridiculously small. That’s because his inner workings rest on his back half. This makes his backside heavy making him prone to falling back. A proper sized winding key would unbalance him and cause him to fall back. An easy fix would have been to counter that excess weight by adding some weight to his front half bringing him back to balance while adding a properly sized winding key. But what of its light and sound effect? Swipe all the way through to see for yourself, I’m personally not a fan. Even less so when trying to get it open to insert batteries. I tried 3 different Phillips head screw drivers and eventually was able to turn the screws with a screwdriver. But that was just half the battle as these screws were deeply embedded and I almost stripped the heads trying for over 10 minutes. Needless to say, get this figure for displaying or scale. He stands at approximately 4.25” from bottom to tip of his fuse. Don’t get him for his light or sound as it’s not worth the effort. I give this toy 2 stars out of 5, you won’t miss it if you pass on it! Go to my story in the next 24 hours to claim a wallpaper featuring this toy!
