Dre's mother gets a new job, which means they must move to China, and Dre is forced to leave his life in Detroit, where he belonged to the popular boys. Friendless in a foreign land, Dre has no one to talk to except the building custodian Han (Jackie Chan), who is actually a secret kung fu master. He teaches Dre that kung fu is not just about strikes and blocks – it is about maturity and calm. Dre also realizes that his life’s battle is to stare down his opponents.
