Duke Nukem 64 (Nintendo 64 - 3D Realms - 1997 - FRA) 🌟 Today marks the first birthday of this Instagram account, so in order to celebrate, I want to talk about a game that is special to me. I played a lot of Duke Nukem 3D on PC with my friends, but as I didn’t have a powerful enough PC at home, I was frustrated not to be able to play it anytime I wanted. Enter the Nintendo 64, which was distributed pretty late in France. I got my console when it finally came out in 1997, and guess what was the first game I bought with my brand new system? Duke Nukem 64 (alongside Lylat Wars). Duke was such an improvement over Doom to me: the setting was more familiar, the humour was everywhere, you could jump and duck, the new weapons and items were great (like the pipe bombs and the jetpack), and I spend an unhealthy amount of time laughing while peeing in the toilets, which was totally unheard of in a game before. Sure, this N64 version suffers from extensive censorship, but it didn’t really bothered me: if you really need soft porn to enjoy your game, maybe you should do something else. The absolute killer feature of this version was the 4 players deathmatch mode, with some exclusive maps and weapons, such as the shotgun equipped with explosive shotgun shells, which is basically my favorite weapon ever in any game. This mode was so fun we even played it more than any other game of that generation (GoldenEye included) with my friends in high school. I’ve got so many good memories attached to Duke Nukem 64. ____________________ #gamesarchive #videogames #games #retrogaming #retrogamer #gaming #collection #vintage #retrocollection #gamingmemories #retrocollectibles #videogames #video #arcade #pixel #pixels #console #japan #oldgames #gameroom #recalbox #nintendo #nintendo64 #n64 #64bits #ultra64 #dukenukem #dukenukem64 #3Drealms #comegetsome #birthday
