Another puzzle game for a system that counts them by the dozen. Sounds familiar? Well, blame it on Nintendo who decided to release two different puzzle game with the same Yoshi on the cover and the title. How confusing is that! They had to add « & Mario » in the European version’s title to make it a bit more distinct. The game was directed by Satori Tajiri, the man behind Pokémon: at least the lineage of Nintendo’s puzzle games is somewhat prestigious. Mario & Yoshi never really grasped my interest and I never bothered learning the rules: it looked confusing as hell. But by playing it recently, turns out it’s maybe too simple for its own good, lacking depth and interest in the long run.
