Pokémon Red (Game Boy - Game Freak - 1996 - FRA)

An iconic Game Boy game that started a whole legacy of video games, cartoons, movies and much more. I didn’t really get caught in the Poké-mania back in the days: it was released really late in Europe and I would spend more time on 3D games or with my Game Boy Color. For me, it was inconceivable to witness a new release on such an old system. When I finally tried it, I was bummed by the game engine that seemed totally outdated: even in Link’s Awakening, released years prior, you could walk diagonally! Of course it is just a detail, but that’s the addition of such small things that participated in my overall unfortunate experience. I guess Pokémon is not for me, and I’ll have the opportunity to expand on that later.
