Solar Striker (Game Boy - Nintendo - 1990 - FAH)

As the first shmup on the system, Solar Striker is pretty basic. But the game got some redeeming qualities, like its musics which are amazing. Solar Striker is a vertical shooter that allows some horizontal scrolling, which result in more freedom but also feels like screen crunch. Hopefully, when some levels takes place in space, the background remains white: it’s far more readable on the Game Boy screen and reduces ghosting. Solar Striker offers a reasonable challenge and is overall pretty fun to play.
