I know this game is widely known as bad, but I have a soft spot for it. That’s because I completed it on a weekend at my grandma’s when I was young. And boy that was a trial. Hook is a difficult game with weird controls, a weapon with no reach and an impractical moon jump. The game is hard as well, with a lot of maze-like levels, vicious ennemies and tons of leaps-of-faith. But I like the flying section and the boss fights that resembles a cheap Street Fighter II. I found out about the NES version much later and I remember being amazed about how wide the screen was compared to the screen crunched Game Boy version. Finishing this game on my own is one of my crowning achievement as a kid.
