The King of Fighters ‘95 (Game Boy - Takara - 1996 - EUR)

This conversion of the classic fighting game franchise is kind of glorious. For once, the gameplay is fast and responsive, and even if the sprites are a bit tiny, the action is perfectly readable. The combo system is fun and addictive, and the characters are cool. As usual with Takara’s conversions, the game is full of secret codes and characters. You could say it is lacking in music and background and you wouldn’t be wrong, but this KoF‘95 is a damn good game, only obsoleted and shadowed by its own sequel.
